Devastating blow for Ole Miss – tight end's status in doubt after possible season-ending injury

On Wednesday it was confirmed former Arkansas tight end Luke Hasz suffered a lower leg injury which required surgery. The once-prized Ole Miss addition via the transfer portal is now in jeopardy of missing a large portion of the 2025 season.

The sophomore caught 26 passes for 324 yards and four touchdowns in 2024 – finishing third on the team in receptions and leading the Razorbacks in touchdown catches.

247Sports' Tyler Komis confirmed the news, stating Hasz's injury is "expected to keep him on the sidelines for the majority of the 2025 season, if not longer". His surgery was completed last week.

Luke Hasz was a lethal weapon downfield for the Razorbacks the last two years.

In 17 games, the 6-foot-3, 240 pound made 42 receptions for 577 yards and seven touchdowns. This setback will now throw quite the large-sized wrench into Lane Kiffin's offensive plans. Ole Miss still has Dae'Quan Wright on the roster, but Hasz was going to add some flexibility and give defenses fits trying to deal with both of them on the field at the same time.

The Rebel were already expecting Wright to be a major factor, but now must rely on New Mexico transfer Trace Bruckler and 2025 signee Hayden Bradley. Back when Hasz was added to the fold, Kiffin spoke about the excitement around him and Wright playing together.

"I think that's a really good combination there," Kiffin said. "(Wright and Hasz) are two guys that have both played extremely well in this conference….Luke has done a really good job for two years over there. It was good to add him."

For an offense searching for continuity and a bounce back from a monster year, this is a huge blow. Hasz is a veteran in the SEC and was going to not only provide plenty of production on the field, but was also going to be a leader in the huddle. He can still make a difference in the locker room, but it's not the same as on-field success.

Kiffin has a way of getting his playmakers the football any way possible so there's still a lot to be excited about in 2025.

Transfer wide receivers Harrison Wallace III and De'Zhaun Stribling join Cayden Lee to form a solid trio after Tre Harris, Juice Wells, and Jordan Watkins all went pro.

In three years, Wallace caught 84 passes for 1,221 yards and six touchdowns at Penn State. Stribling started his career at Washington State where he had 95 catches for 1,073 yards and 10 touchdowns. Then, in Stillwater, he snagged 66 passes for 1,080 yards and seven touchdowns in two years.

The wild card is former Alabama tight end Caleb Odom. The former four-star has the frame and athleticism to play wide receiver, but with Hasz's injury, he could be asked to chip in at tight end.
