Devon Dampier’s Heisman Campaign Starts Against Idaho

With the 2026 college football season fully getting underway, there is one quarterback who will be talked about more than he is right now by the end of the season. That quarterback is Devon Dampier. 

With Utah opening against Idaho, Dampier will have the chance to show he deserves to be in the Heisman race and talked about as one of the top quarterbacks in the country overall.

Devon Dampier Has Already Proven Himself

Dampier is not some unproven quarterback looking to try to break through. During his first season at Utah, Dampier played in 12 games and ended up with a 63.5% completion rate for 2,490 yards and 24 touchdowns while also adding another 835 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

With now entering his senior season, Dampier has the ability to build upon his performance from last season and show that his dual-threat ability can lead to him producing consistently.

The biggest change will be the fact that Kyle Whittingham is no longer Utah’s head coach, but Dampier is talented enough that Morgan Scalley taking over shouldn’t lead to his production declining.

The actual biggest concern will be the offensive line, as they lost all five starters from last season, but if Dampier goes out there and shows that his experience and mobility can overcome this, he only further helps his case to enter the Heisman conversation and raise his awareness overall across the nation. 

Dampier has the talent, experience, and opportunity to become one of the biggest stars in college football this season. This first game against Idaho will be the first step in putting the country on notice.
