Diego Pavia’s Cocky Words To Jon Gruden Aged Horribly After NFL Draft Snub

Diego Pavia went undrafted over the weekend and has had to settle for a minicamp invite.

The former Vanderbilt quarterback could only watch on as all 32 NFL teams passed up on the opportunity to employ him.

One would have thought he would have at least been a late-round pick after leading the Commodores to their first double-digit win season in team history. Pavia was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and was in the running for the Heisman.

He came second in the voting behind Fernando Mendoza, who went No. 1 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders.

It’s believed that Pavia’s measurables and attitude worked against him

But a clip of him revealing he didn’t have an agent has also been floated as one of the reasons the 24-year-old didn’t hear his name across seven rounds.

Pavia was speaking to former Raiders head coach Jon Gruden when he disclosed that he was representing himself.

“Now, do you have an agent?” Gruden asked.

“No, I’m representing myself,” Pavia replied.

“Wow…” Gruden said.

“I didn’t think it was fair that someone was going to represent me and take 5-10%… ain’t nobody taking my money,” the quarterback explained.

You can hear it from the horse’s mouth in the video below:

Diego Pavia Is “Indeed Represented”

While Pavia didn’t think an agent was necessary to negotiate his NIL deals in the NCAA, he has since gotten one.

“He is indeed represented,” ProFootballTalk reported on Sunday.

“Pavia is, as it turns out, willing to let somebody take his money — as it relates to his NFL contract. And the fact that he doesn’t have a contract yet can’t be blamed on not having an agent. Which, frankly, isn’t a good sign.”

Malki Kawa, his agent, has reacted to videos of Pavia’s conversation with Gruden going viral before and after the draft.

“Please stop the stupidity. He didn’t have an NIL AGENT. I am his agent for the nfl‍♂️,” he wrote in one tweet.

“He does Joe. I’m not sure what narrative you goofys are running with,” he said in another.

Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens have offered Diego Pavia a lifeline. Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the QB had accepted an invitation to the team’s minicamp.
