Donovan Jackson Speaks on Return to Ohio State

The Buckeyes are returning a multitude of seniors for the 2024 season.

Among those returners is guard Donovan Jackson, who wanted to return to win the big games.

“We’ve won games but we haven’t won games we’ve wanted to win here, so just trying to do it one more time with my brothers,” Jackson said at his press conference Monday.

The Houston native talked to several people in the "brotherhood" when considering his options, including Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and Las Vegas Raiders offensive tackle Thayer Munford - both former Buckeyes.

“Once guys go to the next level, they still reach back and help out the guys here," Jackson said. "That’s why I love this place so much."

Jackson, who allowed just two sacks himself, according to Pro Football Focus, was part of a Buckeyes team that allowed just 23 sacks all season to former quarterback Kyle McCord, good for 44th in the nation.

Ohio State also finished with a top 45 scoring offense, thanks to the offensive line's help in blocking last season.

Jackson and the linemen have tried to "introduce the new guys" to the program, including senior Alabama transfer center Seth McLaughlin, to build chemistry. Jackson said he and the line took McLaughlin to The Thurman Cafe to help do just that.

“We’re big, we go out to eat," Jackson said.

Other notable returners include running back TreVeyon Henderson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, defensive ends J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer, defensive tackle Tyleik Williams and cornerbacks Denzel Burke and Jordan Hancock.

Jackson shared a consistent sentiment with other returning seniors on Monday.

"I’m glad that I’m back and I’m glad to get after it again,” Jackson said.
