Nebraska suffered its third loss of the season at the hands of USC on Saturday.
Things started well for the Cornhuskers, outscoring the Trojans 14-6 in the first half, but they were only held to three points in the second half. They ultimately lost 21-17.
To make matters worse, Cornhuskers starting quarterback Dylan Raiola suffered an injury during the third quarter and never returned to the game. He suffered the injury while he was being sacked and lost the ball. Before getting hurt, Raiola had compiled 91 yards through the air, one touchdown, and no interceptions.
Unfortunately, the Cornhuskers won't be getting Raiola back this season. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, Raiola suffered a broken fibula and will miss the rest of the year.
True freshman TJ Lateef replaced Raiola and completed five passes for seven yards.
Raiola's sophomore season will end with him throwing for 2,000 yards, 18 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. It was his second season as the Cornhuskers' starting quarterback under head coach Matt Rhule.
The Cornhuskers are already bowl eligible, but are looking to end their 2025 season on a high note. They're set to play the UCLA Bruins, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Iowa Hawkeyes in their final three regular-season games.
The games against the Bruins and Nittany Lions will be on the road, while the game against the Hawkeyes will be at home.
Rhule is in his second season as the Cornhuskers' head coach and has an overall record of 18-16.
