It made sense for Jaxx DeJean to link up with the Iowa Hawkeyes, but the three-star athlete from Odebolt, Iowa, does have some options.
In fact, the 2027 recruit is best known, at the moment, for being the younger brother of former Iowa consensus All-American defensive back Cooper DeJean.
He does have a few interesting offers, though, and he's one heck of an athlete.
It's very early in the 2027 cycle, so the Hawkeyes will have to keep him. With that said, Jaxx DeJean is going to be following in his brother's footsteps.
Just before Christmas, it was announced that he committed to Iowa.

Cooper was known as a tremendous and versatile athlete as a defensive back at Iowa. He could play cornerback or safety, and he was also one heck of a punt returner.
He's flashed that athleticism in the NFL as well. His pick-six on Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl LIX is already the stuff of legends.

It's worth noting that he still has a ton of high school ball left to play, but he is a great athlete. He's taken snaps at wide receiver, tight end, quarterback and defensive back for Odebolt-Arthur High School. Checking in at nearly 6-foot-4, 233 pounds, the Hawkeyes like him as a tight end at the college level, and they know better than most what an elite tight end prospect looks like.
Like his older brother, the younger DeJean is playmaker. In his junior season, he caught 36 passes for 461 yards and six touchdowns while running 27 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns. He threw two touchdowns as a quarterback and notched 18.5 tackles and three interceptions on defense.
He also averaged 10.8 yards per punt return. At Iowa, Cooper averaged 13 yards per punt return.
The younger DeJean also plays basketball and baseball and runs track. On the diamond, he can hit and pitch. In track, he ran an 11.62 100-meter dash and a 23.55 200-meter dash
Will he become the star athlete at the college level and follow in his brother's footsteps? Only time will tell.
With that said, he profiles as an elite athletic recruit.
