Football legend Eddie George, the new head coach at Bowling Green, is the latest to offer a scholarship to the son of Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.
RJ Day (6-foot-1, 203 pounds) plays for St. Francis DeSales in Columbus, Ohio. He became his school's all-time leading passer as a sophomore, throwing for 1,425 yards with 14 touchdowns.
RJ's father played quarterback for University of New Hampshire and then offensive coordinator Chip kelly. Ryan Day later entered the coaching ranks at his alma mater in 2002 before working his way to into a lead role with the Buckeyes.
The Day family has had a special year already, as Ohio State won its first national championship under Day's leadership. And RJ Day's recruitment in the class of 2027 is heating up as he prepares to take multiple trips to camps this summer.
Bowling Green is the most recent program to extend Day a chance at the collegiate level. George is entering his first season after a stint at Tennessee State. And the former Buckeye Heisman Trophy winner and All-Pro running back knows a thing or two about talent.
“Coach George is first class,” Day said on Saturday via On3's Steve Wiltfong.
Programs like Cincinnati, Northwestern, Iowa State, Purdue and UCLA are also showing interest. Day currently holds offers from Bowling Green, Boston College, Akron, Miami (Ohio), Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Marshall and Toledo.
Day's recruitment is still in the early stages before his junior season. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him improve over his final two seasons before making the jump to college football.
