The recruitment for 2026 four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley out of Texas was a hotly contested one between the LSU Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners. His recruitment likely ended on Friday afternoon when Bentley committed to the Sooners. That came shortly after Jaden O'Neal decommitted from the program.

Securing Bentley was an important one for the Sooners, especially with their quarterback situation far from certain post-John Mateer. Quarterback is one position that the Sooners have yet to figure out under head coach Brent Venables.
It also leaves the Tigers still without a quarterback in the 2026 class. They do have sophomore Michael Van Buren on the roster, but there's no guarantee that he stays past 2026 or that he develops like we think he will.
The move by Bentley to select Oklahoma drew the attention of five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, who has been committed to the Tigers since March 19th. He had some choice words that will resonate with LSU fans.

Keys is spot on here, as he is the number one recruit at the wide recever position per the On3 Sports Industry Ranking, which combines all four major recruiting services. He isn't the only one committed to the Tigers in the 2026 class. Four-star Jabari Mack is currently the eighth-ranked wide receiver and the 60th-ranked overall recruit, and four-star Kenny Darby sits as the 21st-ranked wide receiver and 153rd overall recruit.
That's one hell of a trio to come into the class with, especially with the lineage the Tigers have at wide receiver. Just within the last five years, Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Brian Thomas Jr., and Malik Nabers have all gone to the National Football League with insane levels of success early on. Those players also got Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels drafted in the top two, which has to be appealing for a recruit.
Was it the right decision for Bentley? It's certainly too early to know for sure, but the words from Keys could also be a signal that his recruiting process isn't over.
