When you talk about the 2025 NFL Draft class, there is a lot of debate about what exactly the Tennessee Titans are going to do with the top overall selection. There is a lot of conversation around former Miami quarterback Cam Ward, and whether he is a player that the Titans want to build around. It also appears that the organization is very open to potentially moving back.

The other major debate is whether the Titans should stick at No. 1 and select the best player available. If they do, Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter could end up being the selection. After starting as an inside linebacker during his first two years with the Nittany Lions, Carter morphed into an All-American EDGE defender in 2024. He finished that season with 68 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

On Friday, Carter may have given us a bit of insight into what the Titans might be thinking with that top selection. He dropped a cryptic tweet on X, showing a hand with only one finger in the air. Carter appeared pretty happy with a smiling face emoji in front of the hand.

Could this mean something or is it just a random thought? While these players are going through the draft process, there is good reason to believe that there is intentionality to each of their actions. We have also not seen Carter shy away from these cryptic tweets with obvious messages.

It also could be a message from Carter to the Titans, or whoever ends up with the pick, to not pass him up. You can interpret what exactly the message means, but we know that it centers around that top overall selection.

If the Titans do opt for Carter, he would be a welcomed addition to a less than stellar pass rushing unit. During the 2024 season, Tennessee recorded just 32 total sacks as a team in 17 games. They are also saying goodbye to their top pass rusher Harold Landry this offseason.

We can have a deep conversation about what matters more, drafting a talented quarterback that is rough around the edges, or taking a potential blue chip talent. That is what Carter brings to the table, possessing an absurd amount of explosiveness, versatility, and upside. Carter should be a special player.
