ESPN analyst is trying to tell everyone about Arkansas QB Taylen Green, but no one wants to listen

The Arkansas Razorbacks have one of the best players in the country that no one is talking about in quarterback Taylen Green. ESPN analyst Ryan McGee is trying to tell everyone, but since there's still not a whole lot of national media talking about him or the Hogs, it's very clear that no one wants to listen to what he has to say.

Green has the potential to be one of the best QBs in the country, if not the best, by the time the season is over.

"You're not talking about him now... You're going to be talking about him in October," McGee recently said on The Chuck and Bo Show. People are definitely sleeping on him; he's the X factor."

The Hogs will need that in 2025.

Arkansas QB Taylen Green could be the player the Razorbacks have always needed

Last year, we saw flashes of a quarterback who can be the best player on the field, no matter who the Hogs are against. But that wasn't always consistent. Green's biggest issue in 2024, besides the fact that he played through a ton of injuries, is that he made too many mistakes after showing incredible potential. That, paired with how often he ran out of the pocket and into pressure when he didn't need to, was a recipe for moments that held the offense back.

The good news is, outside of that fumble he had on Saturday against Alabama A&M, he was amazing. That one fumble was probably one that anyone would have had because of the situation and what he was trying to do to extend the play. Green finished with a Pro Football Focus grade of 94.1, which is one of the highest of any player in the entire country this past week.

Now, there are a few things that have to be mentioned, though. First, PFF grades are not the end-all, be-all, but they are a good way to see what people who watch film and dissect film think of that player. So, it's completely subjective, and it doesn't mean that they were the best or worst player. In fact, most of the time when we watch film, we don't actually know what every player is being asked to do, so it's hard to judge it objectively. Two, it was Alabama A&M, an FCS school that's pretty bad.

Against Alabama A&M, though, Green was awesome in every aspect. He made the right play what seemed to be every single snap he took just about. Now, it wasn't a perfect game from him, because it's pretty much impossible for a QB to play a perfect game. However, Green was as close as one could get. He finished with 322 passing yards on 24/31 passing with six passing touchdowns. He was also second on the team in rushing with 41 yards on nine attempts.

Arkansas has needed someone like Green, and what he can be, for a very long time. They have had some special QBs in their history, like Ryan Mallett and even K.J. Jefferson before his departure to UCF. However, Green can be the type of QB that takes his team to the next level. Mallett did that to an extent, but Green gives off the vibes that he can be a big-time player, and maybe the best QB in the country if he can put it all together.
