247Sports analyst Brad Crawford released his rankings of the projected starting quarterbacks in the Big 12 Conference, featuring 16 names, and topping the list is Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt at No. 1.

Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson claimed the No. 2 spot, followed by Iowa State’s Rocco Becht at No. 3, Kansas State’s Avery Johnson at No. 4, and TCU’s Josh Hoover at No. 5.

Here is Crawford’s complete Big 12 QB ranking:

  • No. 1 – Sam Leavitt, Arizona State
  • No. 2 – Sawyer Robertson, Baylor
  • No. 3 – Rocco Becht, Iowa State
  • No. 4 – Avery Johnson, Kansas State
  • No. 5 – Josh Hoover, TCU
  • No. 6 – Devon Dampier, Utah
  • No. 7 – Behren Morton, Texas Tech
  • No. 8 – Jalon Daniels, Kansas
  • No. 9 – Brendan Sorsby, Cincinnati
  • No. 10 – Conner Weigman, Houston
  • No. 11 – Noah Fifita, Arizona
  • No. 12 – Kaidon Salter, Colorado
  • No. 13 – Tayven Jackson, UCF
  • No. 14 – Nicco Marchiol, West Virginia
  • No. 15 – McCase Hillstead, BYU
  • No. 16 – Zane Flores, Oklahoma State

Crawford’s list places significant weight on experience, returning production, and upside. Arizona State’s Leavitt is already being discussed as one of the conference’s premier returners after a standout 2024 campaign. Robertson and Becht follow closely, both benefitting from systems built around their strengths.

Mid-tier rankings highlight depth and potential breakout candidates. Johnson and Hoover anchored consistent 2024 seasons, while Dampier and Morton were noted for their athletic dual-threat capabilities and upside. Daniels, Sorsby, and Fifita return to the Big 12 after less-than-ideal years, while Weigman and Salter look to make their mark in a new home in 2025.

The trio near the bottom, Jackson, Marchiol, and Hillstead, represent younger options with developmental potential, despite not having much hype surrounding them. Zane Flores rounds out the list as the sole unproven redshirt freshman, stepping into a projected starting role at Oklahoma State.

Crawford’s rankings give an early look into the Big 12 quarterback landscape heading into fall camp. With more than half the league returning starters or proven production, the conference enters the season with optimism surrounding its signal callers.
