The Ohio State Buckeyes had a loaded team in 2024 that captured the program’s first National Championship in a decade.

With all of the talent that returned for 2024, the expectations were high in Columbus. Now that the season is in the past, a ton of soon-to-be Draft picks are preparing for next month’s 2025 NFL Draft.

Ohio State should challenge the 2022 Georgia Bulldogs for the most draft picks from one school with 15. One Buckeye favorite that will be selected next month is no other than Jack Sawyer.

Jack Sawyer doesn’t go far in the latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft

In a recent Cincinnati Bengals mock draft, Sawyer landed with Cincinnati in the second round. Cincinnati is a clear fit for the four-year Buckeye and Ohio State fans won’t have to go far at all to see him in professional action.

Sawyer put together a solid career in Columbus as a former five-star player and one of the top recruits in the country. Heading to Cincinnati is a great fit for the Pickerington, Ohio native and they have a clear need following former Buckeye Sam Hubbard calling it a career.

“As of this posting, Trey Hendrickson is still on the roster and the Bengals are trying to extend his contract. Even with Hendrickson, the Bengals need at least one more pass rusher to help off the edge. Sawyer doesn't have the ideal length for an edge defender and there's likely a good reason why he didn't test at the NFL Scouting Combine last month. Regardless, he's got a promising pass-rushing profile for a Day 2 pick and checks the Bengals' usual boxes as a former five-star recruit who's played in big games.” -- John Sheeran, A to Z Sports Cincinnati

Sawyer played his best ball down the stretch run of the season for the Buckeyes and no play was bigger than the scoop and score that went over 70 yards to seal the Cotton Bowl win over Texas. Sawyer sacked Quinn Ewers and took it all the way back and it ended up being one of the best plays in Ohio State history.

Sawyer is a great teammate and brings great character into any locker room. The Ohio State product should enjoy a strong NFL career wherever he lands. In 2024, Sawyer had nine sacks, 59 tackles, and one interception. A former Division I basketball recruit in high school, which many folks don’t know about.

Expect Sawyer to go in the second or third round next month and Cinciantti very well could be the landing spot. Both Ohio teams could use EDGE help, as the Cleveland Browns need more depth behind Myles Garrett too. No matter where Sawyer goes, he’ll have a crowd of Buckeyes rooting him on.
