The Florida Gators took a major step forward when it comes to recruiting with the news that five-star quarterback Elijah Haven is projected to commit to the Gators. Fortunately for head coach Billy Napier, the good news keeps on coming.
On Monday night, four-star wide receiver Davian Groce out of Frisco, Texas, made his commitment known, and it was exactly what Napier wanted to hear.
Groce officially made his decision, as he chose the Gators over both the Oklahoma Sooners and Baylor Bears.

It's been trending Oklahoma's way for some time, as Groce's mom and her entire family are from Oklahoma. However, the Gators were able to lure him away from staying close to home, which was arguably the biggest sticking point to landing him.
The Gators put in a ton of work to try and land Groce. Their wide receiver class going into this commitment is still flush with talent. Four-star Marquez Daniel and four-star Justin Williams are the two commits that are currently in the Gators' 2026 recruiting class, and Groce would have fit in very well with their skill sets.
One of the main reasons why the Gators wanted Groce so badly is due to wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales. He coached Percy Harvin at Florida, and believed that Groce could be the next guy to fill that role for the Gators.
It's a tremendous win for the Gators, as Groce now becomes the top-ranked recruit in the 2026 recruiting class as the 60th-ranked recruit, along with the number six wide receiver and number seven recruit in the state of Texas.
Napier continues to prioritize Texas recruits, and it's working. The 2026 recruiting class is now at 19 players.
