Florida Gators suffer another devastating blow with starting quarterback DJ Lagway

Injuries have been the story for Florida Gators starting quarterback DJ Lagway during 2025, and that has continued. According to 247 Sports' Zach Goodall, Lagway has a boot for an undisclosed injury. He was previously in a boot to help him heal from the strained calf that held him out of fall camp.

It's important to note that Goodall didn't mention which foot it was on, nor what the specific injury was. If it's the same leg he had the calf injury on, it's a frustrating one for the Gators.

This is another setback for the Gators, but it arguably couldn't have come at a better time. The Gators are going into their bye week before they end up facing the Texas Longhorns. Lagway will have two weeks to rest up and get ready.

We don't know for sure if this will keep Lagway out for any amount of time, and it's something that we will likely get answers on in time. Head coach Billy Napier talked about Lagway's resilience after Saturday's 26-7 loss to the Miami Hurricanes.

“He’s battling. He’s a young player who’s had a unique offseason," said Napier about Lagway's injuries. "He’s battling his tail off to try to do his job for his teammates. I think his team rallied around him this week. They respect him as a person, as a leader, and as a competitor. They know what he’s been through, and I think that’s their intent, and they certainly showed up and played that way.”

Lagway wasn't the only injury from Saturday's disappointing loss for the Gators, as cornerback Dijon Johnson also suffered one to his knee. 247 Sports also reported that Johnson had surgery on a meniscus injury and could end up missing the rest of the season. This compiles on Dallas Wilson, having missed the first four games, along with four of the top eight defensive linemen missing this past week, with both Caleb Banks and LJ McCray each dealing with a broken foot.

More frustrating news for the Gators.
