Florida Gators head coach Billy Napier would probably prefer to forget that Saturday ever happened.
Napier and the Gators opened the 2024 season at home against the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. Florida entered the game looking to make a statement after hearing all offseason that the Gators aren't going to be a factor in the SEC this fall.
But instead of making a statement, Florida seemingly confirmed that they won't be a threat in the SEC in 2024 after losing 41-17 to Miami.
After the game, Napier met with reporters and he went viral for losing a battle to water bottle that he couldn't open.

Sometime it's just not your day. And on Saturday, it definitely wasn't Napier's day.
Unfortunately for Napier, he's had quite a few days like that since taking over in Gainesville a couple of years ago. It's hard to imagine the former Alabama assistant righting the ship at this point. It seems inevitable that Florida will move on from Napier sooner rather than later. The only way for Napier to avoid that fate is for the Gators to turn things around ASAP.
