The Florida Gators have done a good job with their recruiting lately, but suffered a minor setback on Thursday.
2027 four-star quarterback Kharim Hughley had the Gators listed as one of his final four teams, but chose the Clemson Tigers over them. That's a nice recruiting win for head coach Dabo Swinney as he tries to get the Tigers back to competing for national championships.
Hughley goes to Gainesville High School in Georgia and is the 27th-ranked recruit in his state, per 247Sports composite rankings. He is also the No. 14 quarterback recruit in the nation and the No. 190 overall recruit. Hughley is the second player to commit to the Tigers for their 2027 recruiting class.
Three-star wide receiver Tramond Collins is the only commit the Gators have for their 2027 recruiting class, but that will change soon. The Gators are still focused on their 2026 class, which is currently ranked 16th in the country, according to 247Sports.
The 2025 season is a big one for head coach Billy Napier. He is heading into his fourth season as head coach and led the Gators to an 8-5 record last season. It's the best season of his Florida tenure (so far).
If the Gators can have an even better season in 2025, it could attract even better recruits to join them in future seasons. Florida will open the 2025 season at home against Long Island on August 30.
