Florida OT Jordan Herman Commits to Charlotte

Recruited by Billy Napier and Co. following his one-year stint at Butler Community College, the 6-foot-8, 375-pound tackle became one of the first acquisitions to possess the towering size the Gators have coveted with Rob Sale and Darnell Stapleton.

Herman’s athleticism at his stature suggested a high-upside project piece for Florida on the exterior offensive line in the future with further development. The Gators aimed to groom him into a bookend-caliber offensive tackle, but he never made the upward ascension into the lineup.

He appeared in three games with Florida over two seasons as a reserve against Eastern Washington (2022), South Carolina (2022) and McNeese State (2023).

However, seeing little room for upward growth after two seasons riding the pine, Herman elected to shut down his year after the squad’s Week 11 loss on the road at LSU. He shared his intentions to enter the portal when it officially opened less than a month later.

Herman becomes the sixth former Gator to find a new home via the transfer portal since the winter window opened on Dec. 4, joining safety Kamari Wilson (Arizona State), quarterback Max Brown (Charlotte), wide receiver Caleb Douglas (Texas Tech), tight end Jonathan Odom (Eastern Michigan) and edge rusher Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss).

Sixteen members of Florida’s 2023 roster have entered the NCAA transfer portal this offseason.
