The Florida Gators are 2-3 under head coach Billy Napier in Year 4, led by quarterback DJ Lagway.
Lagway is a sophomore and was the No. 1 high school quarterback in the class of 2024. He got off to a rough start to this season after coming in as a Heisman Trophy contender.
Lagway threw a staggering five interceptions in a Week 3 loss against LSU and then passed for just 61 yards in a Week 4 loss to Miami. He has since bounced back, throwing for 298 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 6 upset win over Texas.
As Lagway gets set to return to his home state of Texas and face Texas A&M on Saturday, he took to social media to announce some big news off the field.
Lagway has signed a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal with Redbull.
"DJ’s got the arm, the aim, and now the wiiings ," Lagway and Redbull wrote in a joint Instagram post.
Lagway is likely among the highest NIL earners in all of college sports. According to On3, his NIL Valuation sits at $1.9 million.
The 6-foot-3 quarterback also has NIL deals with brands such as Mercedes-Benz of Gainesville, Jordan Brand, Chipotle, Beats by Dre, T-Mobile, Gatorade, Nintendo & Epic Games and Lamborghini Orlando.
Lagway took over as the starter midway through his freshman season and went a perfect 6-0 in games he started and finished. He finished 2024 with 1,915 yards and 12 touchdowns.
