Florida Reveals Concerning Injury News on Tuesday
Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida Gators ' rushing attack during the 2024 season was intimidating. Florida's running game was top-tier with the two-headed monster of Montrell Johnson Jr. and Jadan Baugh in the backfield. With Johnson gone for the NFL, now-sophomore Baugh will get the bulk of the carries this year, as redshirt sophomore Treyaun Webb was primed to be an impressive backup.

Webb played in 11 games as a freshman in 2023 before making four appearances as a backup last season. His 2024 was cut short due to a fractured tibia, which ended his season.

On Tuesday, Florida announced Webb is going through another worrisome injury that could hold him out for more games this year.

Graham Hall of 247Sports reported that Webb underwent surgery on Monday to mend a muscle rupture in his right hamstring. There is no clear timetable for Webb's recovery or return at this time, but the procedure is not expected to hold him out for a significant amount of time, Hall said.

Webb appeared in Florida's first four practices of fall camp before missing Tuesday's drills. This was the third surgery Webb has had in the past year after needing two last season due to the fractured tibia.

The 5-foot-11, 217-pound running back showed promising signs during his aforementioned freshman year. He had 26 carries for 163 yards and a pair of touchdowns as a reserve. In 2024, however, he carried 21 times for 93 yards and one score in an injury-shortened season.

Although it is uncertain when he will return, if Webb can lace up his cleats for Florida this season, he will undoubtedly be a key piece in the Gators' running back room.
