The Florida State Seminoles received some good news on Christmas Eve, addressing a weakness through the transfer portal.
On3's Hayes Fawcett reported via X that the Seminoles added former Ole Miss offensive tackle Micah Pettus. Pettus started in 29 out of his 33 games played for the Rebels from 2021-24.
Florida State needs all the help it can get on the offensive line after allowing the second-most sacks in the country this season with 49. The only team that allowed more sacks in college football was Cal, with 50.
The Seminoles have lost players along the offensive line, like OT Julian Armella. Pettus has one more year of eligibility remaining in his college career.

Pettus redshirted during the 2021 season but made his impact in 2022. He was named a Third-Team Freshman All-American, Preseason Freshman All-American and made the 2023 Outland Trophy Watch List after his first season in Oxford.
Pettus was the No. 9 OT in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings before his commitment to Florida State. He was a former three-star offensive tackle in the 2021 class.
The Seminoles were among his top choices coming out James Clemens High School in Madison, Alabama, but he ultimately committed to the Rebels. Pettus also received interest from Arizona State, Arkansas and Maryland.
Florida State has also added former Vanderbilt offensive tackle Gunnar Hansen from the transfer portal. Another significant transfer portal addition is former Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos, who is expected to replace DJ Uiagalelei.
Uiagalelei declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Dec. 16.
Castellanos had 3,689 career passing yards, 33 passing touchdowns, 14 rushing touchdowns and 19 interceptions in two seasons with Boston College.
Florida State had its worst season of the Mike Norvell era, finishing the year at 2-10. The Seminoles' two wins were against Cal and Charleston Southern.
