Former 5-Star Prospect Announces Commitment To Major SEC Program

Texas A&M lost defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy to the transfer portal on Dec. 9, the day it opened. On Wednesday, the defensive lineman decided to stay in the SEC. 

On3's Pete Nakos reported that Brownlow-Dindy committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks via X. The Gamecocks bolstered their defensive line with a transfer portal addition recently, bringing on former Missouri EDGE rusher Jaylen Brown

Texas A&M was in Year One under former Duke head coach Mike Elko this season. Elko went 8-4 in the regular season and had the Aggies in contention for the SEC Championship Game until the final week. Texas A&M lost to Texas 17-7 in the final regular season game and did not make it to the SEC title game. 

Brownlow-Dindy was a former five-star recruit in the 2022 class out of Lakeland, Fla. He was the No. 14 overall prospect and No. 5 DL in his class. The former Texas A&M player was the No. 10 DL in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings

Brownlow-Dindy did not see the field much while in College Station, Texas. He played in eight total games from 2022-24 and finished his Texas A&M tenure with four total tackles, three tackles for loss, and 0.5 sacks. 

South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer achieved his highest season win total in 2024 since taking the job in 2021 after a 9-3 regular-season finish. The best wins from this season for South Carolina included ranked wins over Texas A&M, Missouri, and Clemson. 

South Carolina holds the 13th spot in On3's Transfer Portal Rankings , adding players like former Kentucky tight end Jordan Dingle and former Wake Forest inside offensive lineman Nick Sharpe

South Carolina wraps up the 2024 campaign against No. 20 Illinois in the Citrus Bowl. Kickoff is on Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. ET on ABC.
