The rankings for the toughest places to play in the upcoming EA Sports College Football 26 video game were recently released, and the Ohio State Buckeyes came in at No. 3—trailing only LSU and Penn State.

While Ohio State doesn’t get as many night games—when their home crowd is at its most electric—the Buckeye faithful show up loud and proud for every big game, regardless of the time of day. That was evident last season in a matchup against Indiana, when the Buckeyes dominated the Hoosiers in Big Ten play.

“You know, we didn’t handle the noise very well. We just didn’t. They’re an excellent football team,” said Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti, after his team suffered their first loss last season in Columbus.

Former Big Ten standout makes bold statement about Ohio Stadium

Former Indiana center Mike Katic recently reflected on the toughest environments he faced in the Big Ten—and he ranked Ohio Stadium at the very top. According to Katic, there’s no louder venue in the conference.

“This past year it was … I couldn’t hear my left guard in my ear giving me a call,” admitted Katic. “I couldn’t hear the snap count. It rattled the f*** out of me. The Buckeye fans were absolutely unbelievable. That rattled us, man—me personally—and we got dog-stomped. Credit to the fans for making it a horrible place to play.”

Katic’s comments came after Ohio State hosted Indiana in a highly anticipated late-season game. The Hoosiers arrived undefeated, but the Buckeyes rolled to a convincing 38–15 victory. Given Katic’s firsthand experience, his remarks speak volumes about the atmosphere in Columbus.

At some point, Ohio State and the Big Ten need to resolve the television deal issues that have limited the number of primetime games at Ohio Stadium. Regardless, every team knows it’s going to be a challenge traveling to Columbus to face the Buckeyes—no matter the kickoff time.
