Sam Huard, the former Utah quarterback, will transfer to the USC Trojans for the 2025 college football season.

The former five-star player in the 2021 recruiting class committed to the Washington Huskies as the No. 12 ranked player in 247Sports' Composite rankings. After two seasons at Washington, Huard would transfer to the Cal Poly Mustangs in 2023.

In nine games with Cal Poly, he passed for 2,205 yards, 18 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Huard would later transfer to Utah in May 2024 and take a medical redshirt.

Utah began the 2024 season with Cameron Rising as the team's starter, but an injury ended his season. Huard would not play, and the starting job ultimately went to Isaac Wilson, brother of Denver Broncos quarterback Zach Wilson. Isaac appeared in nine games, passing for 1,510 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Huard is the son of former Huskies and NFL quarterback Damon Huard. His uncle, Brock, played quarterback for Washington and the NFL. Another uncle, Luke Huard, is the quarterbacks coach with the Trojans.

Since Miller Moss and Jake Jensen transferred out, USC only has returning starter Jayden Maiava, rumored to be considering a move to the transfer portal, and freshman Husan Longstreet under scholarship as quarterbacks.

With two years of remaining eligibility, Huard can earn a job this season or next.

Huard is the seventh incoming transfer for USC. The Trojans rank 68th out of 70 FBS programs in the On3Sports transfer portal team rankings, with 21 players exiting this offseason.
