Former Five-Star Recruit Makes Major Transfer Portal Decision

Over 3,700 players have entered their names into the college football transfer portal throughout both the winter and spring transfer portal windows.

With the spring college football transfer portal window set to close on Friday, April 25, a few stragglers have decided to leave a program as time winds down to enter. The latest players to do so will actually be transferring to his third program if he does, in fact, leave his current school, but he was once regarded as one of the best recruits in his class.

As revealed on X on Wednesday, former Oregon and Arizona linebacker Justin Flowe will be transferring for a second time. The decision comes after he spent his first three years with the Ducks, while spending the past two seasons with the Wildcats.

Similar to his time in Eugene which was plagued by injury, his time in Tucson didn't quite live up to the hype that followed him as a recruit.

In 2023, Flowe shined for the Wildcats, racking up 45 tackles and a sack. However, he didn't register a single stat this past season with new head coach Brent Brennan at the helm, and was relegated to special teams.

While his college numbers don't jump off the paper, Flowe was drawing comparisons to former Alabama star Reuben Foster as a recruit, and was expected to go on to be a first-round pick. According to 247Sports, Flowe ranked as the No. 6 player in the country, No. 1 inside linebacker and as the No. 2 player in the state of California in the 2020 class.

He held nearly 40 scholarship offers as a recruit, picking Oregon over USC, Clemson and Miami. It is unclear what kind of market he will have this time around, but he will certainly be a name to watch.
