Former LSU WR Kyren Lacy Found Dead Days Before NFL Draft: Report
USA TODAY Sports

Former LSU WR and 2025 NFL Draft prospect, Kyren Lacy, was found dead at the age of 24 in Houston, according to WAFB on Sunday. ESPN and others have also confirmed the news.

Lacy was involved in a hit-and-run back in December 2024. He left the scene of an accident that killed a 78-year-old man. He was later arrested and faced charges of a felony hit-and-run, negligent manslaughter and reckless operation of a vehicle.

According to the WAFB report, his death is a suspected suicide. No cause of death has been confirmed, however.

Lacy began his college career at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette where he spent two seasons, recording over 600 yards and 10 touchdowns, before transferring to LSU in 2022. Since coming to LSU, he's seen his production increase each year and amassed 866 yards and nine touchdowns in 2024. Over his three years in Baton Rouge, Lacy recorded over 1,500 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns.

Lacy declared for the 2025 NFL Draft just days after he was involved in the hit-and-run, but the news didn't leak for a couple more weeks. He was a projected mid-round pick, but the ongoing legal situation clouded his draft stock in recent months. He wasn't invited to the 2025 NFL Combine.

The former LSU wideout was set to appear in court on Monday, according to WAFB, with a grand jury set to begin hearing evidence on his case.
