Following the 2024 college football season, the transfer portal has started to heat up, with many top-tier talents already entering their name into it.

The quarterback position has been a top priority for many teams over the years, and the portal just got a new QB prospect.

On Wednesday, On3's Pete Nakos reported that Iowa Hawkeyes quarterback Cade McNamara has entered the transfer portal after two seasons with the program. This comes following his initial transfer from the Michigan Wolverines before the 2023 season.

"Iowa quarterback Cade McNamara has entered the transfer portal as a grad transfer, @On3sports has learned," Nakos wrote on X. "Former Michigan transfer."

McNamara was a four-star recruit (247Sports) in the 2019 class from Damonte Ranch High School in Reno, Nevada. The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder will enter the portal as a graduate transfer.

The 24-year-old redshirted in his first year in Ann Arbor and became the full-time starter in 2021, where he led the Wolverines to a College Football Playoff appearance, losing to the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. In that season, McNamara completed 64.2% of his passes for 2,576 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions.

He later lost his starting job in 2022 to eventual national champion and 2024 NFL draft first-round pick J.J. McCarthy, which led to McNamara's transfer to Iowa.

In 2023, his first year with the Hawkeyes, McNamara saw his season come to an end on Sept. 30, 2023, when he suffered a knee injury against Michigan State. He elected to return in 2024, where he led Iowa to a 5-3 record before suffering another ankle injury that sidelined him for the final four games.

This season, McNamara completed 104-of-172 passes for 1,017 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions.
