Former Ohio State DT Kayden McDonald slipped out of the first round, but found his NFL home early in Round 2 with the Texans. McDonald dealt with a really strange question after being drafted.
Former Ohio State football defensive tackle Kayden McDonald was expected to go in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, which didn’t happen. McDonald ended up landing with the Houston Texans early in the second round to team up with former Buckeye quarterback C.J. Stroud.
McDonald was paid a visit by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in a classy move after slipping into the second round. Following being drafted, McDonald was tasked with answering one of the weirder questions you’ll hear asked at the draft.
McDonald was asked during his media availability, “How could other Christians pray for you?”.
McDonald repeated the question back to understand what he was hearing from the reporter was correct.
“Umm … they could just pray,” McDonald responded.

A weird exchange for a player following one of the biggest moments in his career. These players already have a ton of emotion going through them in these moments and getting such a strange question doesn’t help.
McDonald was a full-time starter at Ohio State for just one season. The talented defensive tackle was a force in the middle with 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and three sacks for Matt Patricia’s defense. McDonald is a run-stopping nose tackle first, but he brings pass-rush upside as well.
The former Buckeye will slot into a terrific defensive line to play with Texans EDGEs Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter. Falling out of the first round may have been a blessing in disguise for McDonald.
