Four-Star Florida Target Sets Commitment Date

As the calendar is set to turn to July, and after a very successful month of June for the Florida Gators, the recruiting cycle will begin to heat up even more.

The 2026 football recruiting class for head coach Billy Napier and the Florida staff has gone well thus far, but the job is nowhere from finished. With many highly ranked recruits still yet to announce their commitments, the Gators are hoping for a big month to solidify the roster.

With that in mind, one big UF target set his commitment date on Monday. Four-star linebacker Duyon (DQ) Forkpa will announce where he will begin his collegiate career on July 12, he told On3's Josh Newberg.

Forkpa, who attends IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, is the No. 38 overall recruit in the state and is the 15th highest-ranked linebacker in the country in the 247Sports Composite rankings.

On his commitment date, Forkpa will choose between Florida, Florida State, Miami and Michigan. The recruitment has seemed quite even among the four schools throughout the summer, but UF may have an edge as the linebacker said he has a great connection with Napier.

"Coach Napier, he's a Christian guy," Forkpa said during his visit to Gainesville in June. "That's what I like a lot. Not to dig too much into the religious side, but I just like his values and his morals."

Other than the religious connection Forkpa shares with UF's coach, the four-star also said he was drawn into the "brotherhood" he experienced while on Florida's campus.

If Napier and the Gators, who are ranked No. 14 in the 2026 On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings, are able to lock down Forkpa, it would bode well for what could be a huge month for Florida's future.
