Recruitment is heating up for four-star quarterback Matt Ponatoski, who is also one of the top baseball recruits in the country.
Ponatoski (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) is a two-sport athlete at Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati, Ohio. The class of 2026 recruit is rated as the No. 22 quarterback by On3 and the No. 16 baseball player by Baseball America.
Ponatoski threw for over 4,000 yards with 57 touchdowns as a junior, helping lead Moeller to the Ohio Division 1 state championship game. He earned Ohio Mr. Football honors while being named MaxPreps and Gatorade Ohio High School Football Player of the Year.
On the diamond, Ponatoski has touched 97 miles per hour as a right-hand pitcher and slashed .429 with 29 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 2024.
Missouri initially earned a commitment from Ponatoski as an eighth grader before he reopened his recruitment in 2023. He has since added multiple major offers from the likes of Texas A&M, Kentucky, Michigan, Oregon and Alabama.
Ponatoski, who will compete in the Elite 11 quarterback competition this summer, is expected to officially visit the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning on June 20, he revealed on Thursday.
Defending Big Ten champion Oregon is looking to add some talent at quarterback in the 2026 cycle after losing out on No. 1 passer Jared Curtis to Georgia. The Ducks previously held a commitment from four-star Jonas Williams, who flipped to USC in February.
Ponatoski's trip to Oregon will be his first major football visit after he previously visited Kentucky, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and Duke as a baseball recruit.
