USA Today released its Top 25 quarterback rankings for the upcoming 2025 season, and the Big 12 conference placed six signal-callers among the nation’s best.
Leading the charge is Arizona State’s Sam Leavitt at No. 5, followed by Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson at No. 11, TCU’s Josh Hoover at No. 12, Iowa State’s Rocco Becht at No. 15, Kansas State’s Avery Johnson at No. 22, and Texas Tech’s Behren Morton at No. 25.
Sam Leavitt stands out after throwing nearly 3,000 yards and 24 touchdowns in guiding ASU to a conference title and CFP berth last season. His No. 5 rank aligns with national expectations for his explosive junior campaign.
Just behind, Sawyer Robertson at Baylor enters at No. 11, riding momentum from his 2024 season that yielded 2,626 passing yards and 26 TDs. The Bears are counting on him to elevate their offense in Coach Dave Aranda’s second year.
TCU’s Josh Hoover and Iowa State’s Rocco Becht continue the string of conference talent. Both signal-callers filled pivotal roles in their teams’ offenses last year, earning national recognition at No. 12 and No. 15, respectively.
Rounding out the list are Kansas State’s Avery Johnson (No. 22) and Texas Tech’s Behren Morton (No. 25), who each earned praise for their leadership and passing ability.
The presence of six Big 12 QBs in the top 25 underscores the league’s passing game prowess and its potential to earn multiple CFP bids this season.
According to NFL draft evaluators, the conference likely boasts at least seven “draftable” quarterbacks in 2025. That depth gives each program confidence heading into fall camp, with veteran arms returning and ready to deliver consistency under center.
As preseason drills ramp up, all eyes will be on these six to affirm their status and carry the Big 12’s reputation as a quarterback-rich conference into the 2025 campaign.
