Georgia, Florida and Texas in the running for 2024's top RB recruit

IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson has the potential to be a star at the college level.

If you believe the rankings, he's the top running back in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. He's also considered a consensus Top 30 recruit nationally.

A player of his stature will certainly have a ton of suitors, but Gibson has narrowed his offer list of over 20 schools down to just five. He released that list on Twitter, and it features some major players in the college football game: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Tennessee and Miami.

At first glance, it would appear the Bulldogs are a strong option for Gibson. They've won two national championships in a row and don't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. They also have a history of sending backs to the league.

“Georgia’s running backs dominate both in the NFL and in college, making them one of my top 5 schools. They’re long-lasting in the league thanks to their depth of talent and the number of players they develop," Gibson told On3.

The Gators also have a homegrown advantage for the 5-star recruit.
“Growing up in Florida, the Gators have always been my favorite team," he said. "Playing for them has been a lifelong dream of mine.”

Don't count out the Texas Longhorns just yet, though. The star running back recruit was clear that he likes what head coach Steve Sarkisian is building.

“Texas has a great coaching staff with a team that’s on the same page. Their fan base is amazing, and they have an RB coach with a great history of producing top-tier RBs," Gibson said, specifically referencing Tashard Choice. "I’m excited to see what this team can do.”

With Tennessee and Miami also in the running, Gibson's recruitment certainly seems like it's going to come down to a battle between bluebloods.
