Top recruit commits to Colorado on Deion Sanders' Instagram Live

Social media really has changed the landscape of college football recruiting. It was the precursor to NIL and immediate transfer eligibility, and it paved the way for a much more connected relationship between players, coaches and fans.

So much so that four-star athlete (meaning he can play multiple positions) recruit Aaron Butler actually committed to Colorado by commenting on a recent Instagram live-streamed by Buffs head coach Deion Sanders.

“Well, I think that describes me to a tee, Coach, no cap,” Butler wrote, per On3. "With that being said, I want to officially announce my commitment to the University of Colorado to the world."

Butler then joined the live feed, with Sanders commenting that he couldn't talk for fear of recruiting violations, but he and another coach celebrated in the background none the less.

There's a reason Sanders was so excited. According to 247Sports, Butler is the No. 5-ranked athlete in the 2024 class as well as the 65th-ranked recruit in the nation. He's a big-time recruit, and he committed to Sanders and the Buffaloes despite interest in Arizona, Georgia, Oregon and Washington.

Notably, Butler was formerly committed to USC, but it doesn't sound like Colorado needs to worry about him changing his mind anytime soon.

"There were a lot of reasons why I committed there. I had two great visits and really believe in the direction the program is going under Deion (Sanders)," Butler told 247Sports. "Colorado is home, I know what I want and I'm happy with my decision."
