Georgia likely to beat out Oklahoma, others for another massive recruiting win

Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs staff have been cleaning up on the 2024 recruiting trail, and all indications are that they could be on the verge of yet another huge win.

Joseph Jonah-Ajonye is a four-star defensive lineman from Conroe, Texas (Oak Ridge High School), and it's looking like the Bulldogs could be just a day or so away from landing his commitment.

It's being reported by multiple recruiting networks that Jonah-Ajonye is planning on making his commitment public on July 6. The Bulldogs are in the four-star's top four, along with Oklahoma, Oregon and Georgia Tech.

For what it's worth, Jonah-Ajonye did speak highly of his experience in Athens during a May visit.

“It was way better than what I expected,” he had told On3. “I loved it there. It was really fun. I learned a lot. So me and Coach (Tray) Scott, we watched film and he taught me a lot about my position that I didn’t even know in just a couple of minutes. I felt like a better football player than I was already. So just imagine what three or four years would be if I went to Georgia. So that’s why I really loved it.”

The 247Sports Crystal Ball function has Georgia beating out Oklahoma for Jonah-Ajonye by a count of 3-to-1. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, there's a 96.4% chance the 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman ends up in Athens.

It seems likely that Jonah-Ajonye will choose Georgia, and if he does he'll be joining a 2024 class that is already ranked No. 1 in all of college football. With three five-stars, 13 four-stars and seven three-stars, Smart and his staff are currently out-recruiting the likes of Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, USC and Notre Dame.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Jonah-Ajonye is the No. 6 defensive lineman in the nation as well as a Top-40 recruit.
