One reason the Georgia Bulldogs are competing for national championships is their ability to build for the future and bring in talented players.

Despite much of the hype currently surrounding the 2026 recruiting class, Kirby Smart has been putting effort into the 2027 class, with one big name being quarterback Jayce Johnson from Valdosta, Georgia.

They've already brought him in for two unofficial visits on Oct. 5, 2024, and Feb. 1, as they've quickly gotten to work in trying to make a strong impression.

It'll be a while until Johnson makes his commitment decision, but unfortunately for Georgia, On3's Sam Spiegelman predicted on Tuesday that he'll land with the Texas A&M Aggies.

Last season, Johnson put up solid numbers for Lowndes High School, completing 123-of-183 passes for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns and three interceptions while also rushing for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

His stats have helped Johnson earn high ratings, with On3 currently placing him as a four-star recruit, the No. 2 quarterback, the No. 5 player in Georgia and the No. 53 player in the nation.

The Bulldogs aren't the only team Texas A&M is fighting for Johnson's commitment. He also has offers from Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, Florida State, Auburn and Indiana, among others.

Even if they don't come out on top in this battle, though, the Aggies are still pushing for several other quarterbacks, as the On3 recruiting prediction machine gives them the best chance (33.1%) to land four-star Weston Nielsen.
