For a moment, it appeared that Georgia freshman wide receiver Nitro Tuggle had decided to move on from the Bulldogs.
He announced on Monday that he was planning to transfer away from Georgia after the conclusion of his freshman season. Tuggle played in six games for UGA notching his first collegiate catch against Tennessee Tech and then catching two passes for 25 yards in Georgia's 31-17 win over No. 7 Tennessee later in the season.
Those were his last in-game stats, and he decided that he wanted to try to find an opportunity somewhere else.
"I would like to thank God first, coaches, teammates, and fans for supporting and welcoming me throughout the season. With that being said after a lot of thought and prayer, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with three years left of eligibility," he originally wrote on Instagram.

The craziness of the transfer portal and NIL era is that what was true on Monday can be proven false on Tuesday. That's the case regarding Tuggle, at least, because he posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, the very next day that he's 'not going nowhere'.

This can, of course, change 10 times again before UGA even plays its next game — which will be in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1 — but for now, this appears to be good news for the future of Georgia football.
Tuggle was the No. 20 wideout in the 2024 recruiting class, and head coach Kirby Smart did speak highly of the young athlete after his performance against Tennessee. Notably, Smart did point out, at the time, that Tuggle was pining for playing time.
"Nitro's responded well. He's worked hard. He had a good practice today," Smart said after the Tennessee win, according to 247Sports. "I think he gained some confidence from that because he went against a really good defense and he did some nice things. But, I mean, he goes against a good defense every day in practice, and there's times that he's been frustrated. I mean, he would tell you openly that he wants to play. He wants to help. All freshmen want to play."
Someone at UGA clearly got to Tuggle and convinced him that more playing time will be on the way in 2025 and beyond.
