The Georgia Bulldogs have a tough road match ahead against Ole Miss, but the good news is that they may have star rusher Trevor Etienne in their lineup after all.
Etienne had excited Week 10's win over the Florida Gators early with a rib injury and did not return for the second half.
Head coach Kirby Smart said right after the game that Etienne's was nothing too significant and gave another positive injury update on Monday.
"Etienne, I feel good about," Smart said. "He felt good yesterday and did some things yesterday with our guys, and I don't know a lot until we get out there and practice today. But we'll certainly see how he feels. The trainer feels good about him. The big thing is just his ability to sustain and deal with a little bit of pain, he's gonna have some there. But he is a tough kid, and I think he'll do well with it."
Ole Miss is home to the best run defense in the country so having their most physical back available will be crucial.
Etienne has rushed 89 times for 453 yards and seven touchdowns through seven games so far. He has also caught 20 passes for another 130 yards.
Smart, however, was unsure about when the Bulldogs could be getting linebacker Smael Mondon (foot), running back Roderick Robinson (foot), and wide receiver Anthony Evans (hamstring) back.
"Yeah, again, we're hopeful to get those guys back," Smart said. "I mean, I don't know at what point it's gonna happen. But each one of those guys are rehabbing, working their butts off, and hoping to get back to help the team soon."
We'll know more about Etienne on Wednesday when Smart speaks to the media again and their Week 11 injury report is released.
