Although Notre Dame quarterback Steve Angeli earned some playing time last year during College Football Playoff semifinal against Penn State, he isn't the choice of On3's Ari Wasserman to lead Notre Dame's offense in 2025.

Instead, that recognition goes to C.J. Carr, grandson to legendary Michigan head coach Lloyd Carr and son of former Wolverines quarterback Jason Carr, who joined the college football powerhouse as part of the 2024 recruiting class.

Carr spent most of the 2024 season resting his elbow after sustaining an injury in September.

In a January interview with Kyle Kelly of On3, Carr said he believes he's ready after growing during his redshirt season spent working with the scout team.

“I definitely wasn’t ready to play a year ago,” Carr said. “With all the new changes with school, with football. I feel very, very ready now.

“When I’m on the scout team, it’s more just getting used to the speed of things. Trying to see safety rotation and decipher what they’re playing before I snap the ball. It’s really helped me with the speed of the game and make decisions.”

Notre Dame's starting quarterback spot is still up for grabs as the competition will battle on between Carr, Angeli and Kenny Minchey.

The Fighting Irish will be tested early this fall as they kick off the regular season against the Miami Hurricanes on August 31.
