Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams reveals which NFL teams he'd like to play for

While USC's Heisman Trophy-winning QB Caleb Williams won't be draft eligible until 2024, it hasn't kept him from thinking about which team he'd like to play for in the NFL.

The 21-year-old recently spoke with People to discuss his 2022 season and goals for the upcoming season, and he also shared his ideal draft destinations.

"I like to be around younger coaches," said Williams. "I'd probably go to the Dolphins. I also would be able to play with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Mike Gesicki. The defense isn't bad. That's probably my number one spot."

Williams would surely excel in HC Mike McDaniel's offensive scheme throwing to WRs Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle; the two were in the top seven in receiving yards in 2022. Unfortunately for Williams, Miami is an unrealistic landing spot for him.

The Dolphins have a promising QB in Tua Tagovailoa, who threw for a career-high 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns this past season despite suffering multiple concussions

Even if Tagovailoa's concussion issues persist and he misses time, Miami's roster is still too talented to be considered a contender for the first overall pick unless something drastic happens.

If his dream of playing for the Dolphins doesn't materialize, Williams has considered a few backup options but ultimately would welcome an opportunity from any team.

"San Fran, Raiders or Falcons," Williams told People as other teams that interest him. "I'd play anywhere."

San Francisco is another unlikely option for Williams, as it's the best roster he named. The 49ers also have two young signal-callers on their roster, Trey Lance and Brock Purdy, and will need to figure out which one will be the long-term answer.

There's a possibility the Raiders could draft Williams since they released Derek Carr earlier this month, and it's still unclear how they'll address the position this offseason. Williams could eventually be in play if Las Vegas decides on a bridge QB next season.

Among the organizations Williams mentions, Atlanta may be the most likely destination.

On the roster, the Falcons have 2022 third-round pick Desmond Ridder, who might be the full-time starter next season. In four starts this past season, Ridder threw for 708 yards and two touchdowns, but if given a choice, Atlanta probably wouldn't hesitate to draft Williams.

As a sophomore, Williams threw for 4,357 yards, 42 touchdowns, and five interceptions, rushing for 382 yards and 10 touchdowns. He tells People that he's aiming to add another Heisman Trophy to his collection and hopefully win his first national championship before heading to the NFL.

Williams' pursuit of becoming the second player in history to win the Heisman Trophy twice begins on Aug. 26 when the Trojans face San Jose State.
