Here's the projected scheduling format for the College Football Playoff 12-team bracket

According to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, the scheduling format for a 12-team College Football Playoff has been revealed.

The College Football Playoff was a revelation and most fans would likely say that the format is leaps and bounds better than the old BCS system.

If there has been one consistent complaint, though, it has been that only four programs can make it each season. That has led to a lot of the "same ole same ole" teams since the CFP started.

Why not expand the field? That's been a constant refrain since 2014 and it was consistently enough a talking point that the committee made the big change.

There has been an will be a bit of a waiting period, but the CFP is expected to feature 12 teams by the 2024-2025 season.

Auerbach was also given an idea of what the playoff would look like using the rankings from last season.

If this is what things eventually do look like, the first round is going to be epic for the home team. Imagine a Friday night game as the Volunteers take on Kansas State Infront of their home crowd.

That would hypothetically be followed by Penn State taking on Ohio State at the Horseshoe on Saturday night, all the while knowing that each of the top four teams is patiently waiting in the quarterfinal "bowl game" to take on the winner.

All of a sudden, team rankings matter outside of the top four, because home-field advantage in round one will be on the line.

It would be pandemonium in the best way, and college football as a sport is certainly set to benefit from that hype.
