Quarterback recruiting for the Alabama Crimson Tide has been interesting to watch for the 2026 recruiting cycle. After some early conversations with various talented signal callers, an intriguing name came to the forefront. That is Omaha (Neb.) Millard South record setting quarterback Jett Thomalla.
Originally committed to Iowa State, head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide staff really turned the heat up on the Nebraska native this offseason. They were able to solidify the flip a few weeks ago, and now they have another talented signal caller to add to their room.
Thomalla isn’t the typical quarterback target we have seen end up in Tuscaloosa over the last several years. Outside of his offer from Alabama, the offer list from Thomalla isn’t overly exciting. Other schools like the Cyclones, Missouri, Iowa, Washington State, Virginia Tech, Arizona, and Duke are some of his other top offers.
The 6-4, 205-pound passer is now rated as the No. 232 overall player and No. 16 quarterback on the 2026 recruiting class according to the 247Sports Composite ranking. Thomalla has continued to rise up the rankings over the last couple of months.
If you aren’t impressed by either his rankings of offer list, maybe Thomalla’s production might do it for you. In 13 games as a junior, he managed to throw for 3,663 yards and 47 touchdowns. Thomalla also added another score on the ground, while completing nearly 70 percent of his passes and throwing just three interceptions.
Still not impressed? Well at a camp at Millard South recently, a couple of current NFL wide receivers in New Orleans Saints standouts Brandin Cooks and Rashid Shaheed were participating. Both of the talented wideouts spoke praises of Thomalla, and his overall physical gifts.
"He's throwing missiles... There's no surprise why he's going to Bama."

“He’s throwing missiles, Cooks said. “He’s letting it come out of his hand and he’s a big guy. There’s no surprise about why he’s going to Alabama, great school. I think he’s going to be great coming out here slinging that ball.”
Shaheed shared the high praise for Thomalla. Both reiterated the talent that Alabama was getting.
“He came in, and he was slinging it,” said Shaheed. “He’s super talented and I see why he is ranked as high as he is, and committed to Alabama, which is one of the top programs in the country. I can see why he’s had success in the high school level, and I expect him to continue the same in college.
“He was super confident,” he continued. You could see he was excited to be out there with us, and just come out here, have a good time and compete.”
For the stargazers out there, it was nice to hear that Thomalla has been impressing two pass catchers on the highest level. While flipping a quarterback from Iowa State won’t impress many, Thomalla certainly has a lot of talent. The Crimson Tide staff may have found a huge diamond with a ton of developmental upside.
