Ole Miss is going through a major transition at quarterback this year after having Jaxson Dart as the starter for the last three years. He's off to the NFL and Austin Simmons is expected to be the starter in 2025.
However, beyond that is a major question mark. Head coach Lane Kiffin has been hot on the recruiting trail and there's one high-end prospect who seems to have interest in Ole Miss.
LaSalle College four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar has narrowed the colleges he's interested in to five programs and the Rebels are among them. He recently spoke to OMSpirit and had some interesting things to say about Ole Miss.
“Ole Miss has a great quarterback tradition, game day atmosphere and they throw the ball around,” Sidwar said. “It’s an aggressive offense and I want to play in that type of offense.”
Kiffin has a strong track record of working with quarterbacks at the college level and has built Ole Miss into a consistent winner. Sidwar doesn't believe that Ole Miss needs to sell itself much.
“The message is ‘this place sells itself’,” Sidwar said. “We love your tape, check us out. The focus from them is to just come visit.”
Another thing that could work in Ole Miss' favor is that Sidwar is a fan of Dart, who could be a high NFL draft pick in April.
“I watch Jaxson play a few games this year. He has a gunslinger mentality,” Sidwar said. “He will do whatever it takes to put his team in a position to win. It’s no surprise he has all the records there.”
