The Nebraska football team is now expected to land one of the top-rated players in last year's recruiting class.
On Thursday, On3 and 247Sports both logged predictions for Mizzou edge rusher Williams Nwaneri to commit to Nebraska in the transfer portal. It comes just two days after Nwaneri entered the portal.
He played in just one game this past season as a true freshman, recording two tackles in the Tigers' blowout win over UMass.

The Five-Star Plus+ true freshman entered with a do-not-contact tag this morning.

However, he was a five-star prospect, rated as the sixth-best player in the entire country in the 2024 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. That's a big-time addition for the Huskers, if the predictions are correct.
It may help Nebraska that his former high school coach at Lee's Summit North in Missouri is Huskers senior assistant Jamar Mozee, whose son Isaiah, also just signed with the Big Red. This year was Mozee's first year on Nebraska's coaching staff.
Nwaneri should immediately have a chance to help replace the likes of James Williams, Kai Wallin and Jimari Butler — all of whom have entered the transfer portal — and the outgoing seniors.
The transfer portal will remain open until Dec. 28, so several more roster changes are possible before that time. Nebraska will also play in the Pinstripe Bowl that day.
