Linebacker Teddye Buchanan, who teamed with cornerback Jordan Perryman at UC Davis for two seasons, has a chance to do what his former teammate did — finish up his college football career as a grad transfer at the University of Washington.

On Tuesday, the 6-foot-3, 237-pound Buchanan entered the transfer portal and has since received scholarship offers from California, Stanford, Houston and the Huskies.

The Bay Area product was named second-team all-Big Sky this past season as a junior and was a third-team selection in 2022.

Buchanan played for Dan Hawkins, the coach who started all of Boise State's football success prior to Chris Petersen and Bryan Harsin and who stepped down as the UC Davis coach after six seasons on Wednesday.

A team captain for each of the past two seasons, Buchanan led the Aggies in tackles with 71 for a 7-4 team this fall and with 74 in 2021.

Buchanan was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in UC Davis' season-ending 31-21 upset of Sacramento State. He came up with 7 tackles and had 2 interceptions against the No. 8-ranked Hornets.

A noted playmaker, the Aggies linebacker had 8 interceptions in his four seasons, including 3 this past season.

In 2021, Buchanan and Perryman were defensive starters together for an 8-4 UC Davis team that advanced to the first round of the FCS playoffs. They were first and third in tackles for that team with 74 and 63, respectively.

Buchanan is from South San Francisco and played for St. Ignatius High School in the city.

Perryman, who was a first-team All-Big Sky selection, joined Kalen DeBoer's first Montlake team in 2022, started 10 games while dealing with injuries and finished with 37 tackles for the 11-2 Huskies.

The UW's other notable UC Davis connection was Petersen, who played quarterback for the Aggies.
