Illinois Football has announced that Sophomore running back, Kaden Feagin, will be out for the game vs Purdue. Feagin is the Illini’s starting running back and has been a key piece to the Illini’s balanced offense. Through the first five games, Feagin has racked up 67 carries for 306 yards and three touchdowns. Illinois will certainly miss their Feagin as they definitely plan on running through the very thin defensive line that Purdue has. There has not been a reported reason as to why Kaden is Out for this game at this time.
Luckily for the Illini, their running back room is arguably the deepest portion of their team.
Look for running backs, Aidan Laughery, Josh McCray and Ca’lil Valentine to step up and split the responsibility. Laughery has struggled thus far since a solid start to the season vs Eastern Illinois. McCray has had glimpses and flashes of the form he had during his freshman year, however, has not established consistency. Of note, though, he has made some big plays in the receiving game.
On the other hand, true freshman Ca’lil Valentine has been outstanding. Valentine helped seal the ranked victory over the Kansas Jayhawks in week 2 and has shown bursts of brilliance. Hopefully, Feagin is not out with a long-term injury, but we can rest assured knowing how talented the Illinois football running back room is.
Significant. #illini RB Kaden Feagin is OUT. https://t.co/5QKzygUMXu
