25 MLB prospects who will make an impact in 2027

The 2026 MLB season was driven by top performances from young players, and the crop of young talent in the minors has never been greater. These 25 prospects could emerge as top MLB players in 2027.

Franklin Arias, SS, Boston Red Sox
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

Boston has resisted the temptation to trade Arias, who is now on the cusp of the majors. He had a terrific 2026 season, hitting .323-25-91 with a .957 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A while showing a great contact rate. Current Red Sox shortstop Trevor Story has a year remaining on his contract, but might not be able to hold off Arias.

Caden Bodine, C, Tampa Bay Rays
Steven Branscombe / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

Acquired last offseason for Shane Baz, Bodine has developed into an elite prospect. The 2025 first-round pick could be a future batting champ, hitting .342-17-99 with only 34 strikeouts in 543 plate appearances across four minor league levels last season. The Rays no longer need a catcher after acquiring Liam Hicks, but Bodine shows a Joe Mauer-like offensive ceiling.

Tyler Bremner, SP, Los Angeles Angels
Brett Davis / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

The Angels' rebuild continues, and Bremner is their prized pitching prospect. The second overall pick in the 2025 draft, Bremner posted a 4.33 ERA in 19 starts with a 3.70 K/BB ratio between High-A and Double-A last season. The team has no reason to rush the 22-year-old right-hander, but he should make an impact at some point in 2027.

Charlie Condon, 1B/OF, Colorado Rockies
Mark J. Rebilas / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

Colorado held off promoting Condon to the majors in 2026, but he's ready. The third overall pick in the 2024 draft, Condon hit .273-27-98 in 598 plate appearances at Triple-A Albuquerque. Questions remain about his contact ability, but the bat should play at Coors Field.

Leo De Vries, SS/3B, Athletics

Like most of the Athletics' top hitters in 2026, De Vries missed time due to injury. He's still close to making his MLB debut, after hitting .290-13-55 with 34 stolen bases in only 93 games at Double-A Midland. De Vries only turned 20 in October, so there's no reason for the rebuilding franchise to rush him to the majors. Acquired in the Mason Miller trade with San Diego, De Vries will be a foundational player as the team prepares to move to Las Vegas.

Alfredo Duno, C, Cincinnati Reds
Mark J. Rebilas / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

The Reds could enter another rebuild stage in 2027, with Hunter Greene out for the year and several prominent players entering their walk years. Duno could emerge at catcher, with long-time catcher Tyler Stephenson potentially leaving in free agency this offseason. He hit .281-19-61 with an .899 OPS between High-A and Double-A last season, numbers that are more impressive considering he doesn't turn 21 until January. Duno could get a long look in Spring Training.

Andrew Fischer, 1B/3B, Milwaukee Brewers

The 20th overall pick in the 2025 draft, Fischer showed why in his first full pro season. He hit .273-48-114 between High-A and Double-A after performing well for Italy in the WBC. Major questions remain about Fischer's contact rate (185 strikeouts in 560 plate appearances), an issue he will likely have a chance to address early in 2027 at Triple-A before he gets a shot in the majors.

Theo Gillen, OF, Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays continue to produce outstanding MLB players, with Gillen next in line. The former first-round pick hit .315-22-91 and stole 44 bases in 533 plate appearances between High-A and Double-A. He will likely get some time at Triple-A at the start of 2027, but is clearly the team's center fielder of the future.

Zyhir Hope, OF, Detroit Tigers

Acquired from the Dodgers in the Tarik Skubal trade, Hope could become an excellent young outfielder alongside Max Clark and Riley Greene in Detroit. He hit .287-29-111 with 26 stolen bases in 564 plate appearances at Double-A. The Tigers have enough outfield depth to give him more time to work on his contact issues at Triple-A, but Hope should make an impact soon.

Xavier Isaac, 1B, Tampa Bay Rays

After missing much of the 2025 season, Isaac rebounded successfully in 2026. The 2022 first-round pick hit .258-27-79 with 20 stolen bases and a .912 OPS between Double- and Triple-A. Isaac is still working on his contact rate, but he has a great eye and patience at the plate. He could be the heir to Yandy Díaz at first base and as a designated hitter.

Seaver King, SS/2B, Washington Nationals
Mark J. Rebilas / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

The Nationals are loaded with top middle infield prospects, with King likely to be the first of several to reach the majors. The 10th pick in the 2024 draft, he hit .303-21-74 with 15 stolen bases and a .898 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He'll likely get a shot at the second-base job in Spring Training.

Jesus Made, SS, Milwaukee Brewers

Arguably the best prospect in baseball, Made hit .271-14-91 with 37 stolen bases and a .774 OPS in 122 games at Double-A Biloxi after turning 19 in May. He's projected for much bigger power as he gets stronger and could make a splash in Spring Training.

Aidan Miller, SS/3B, Philadelphia Phillies
Kim Klement Neitzel / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

The 2026 season was a lost year for Miller, who sat out most of the year with back issues. The good news is that he was healthy at season's end and had an excellent showing at the Arizona Fall League. The 2023 first-round pick hit .259-13-41 with 52 steals at Double-A Reading in 2025, and he could cause the Phils to move Trea Turner off shortstop or fill in for pending free agent Alec Bohm at third base next season.

Rainiel Rodriguez, C/1B, St. Louis Cardinals
Jerry Lai / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

The Cardinals organization is loaded with catching talent, but none has a higher ceiling than Rodriguez. He hit .324-27-87 with a .987 OPS between High-A and Double-A last season at age 19. Already showing a great approach at the plate, he could make the decision difficult for the Cardinals next spring.

Jefferson Rojas, 3B/SS, New York Mets

Acquired from the Cubs last season, Rojas hit .274-27-93 with 21 stolen bases in 554 plate appearances, mostly at Double-A, in 2026. He has the athleticism to play multiple infield positions and could help the Mets next season.

Mike Sirota, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers
Jayne Kamin-Oncea / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

Sirota has an extremely high floor as an on-base machine who can play center field. He hit .307-17-62 with 100/114 BB/K in 501 plate appearances across three minor league levels last season. The Dodgers have no reason to rush Sirota with only 2 games of experience at Triple-A, but he could help in the second half of 2027.

Ryan Sloan, SP, Seattle Mariners
Jayne Kamin-Oncea / IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

Kade Anderson made waves with his promotion to Seattle in 2026, and Sloan is next. The 20-year-old right-hander posted a 3.73 ERA in 22 starts at Double-A, with a remarkable 128/16 K/BB in 101.1 innings. He has the polish to contribute immediately in the majors.

Jarlin Susana, P, Washington Nationals

Arm injuries and control issues have slowed Susana's development, but his triple-digit velocity will certainly play. He made only 8 appearances in 2026 before pitching in the Arizona Fall League. It seems like only a matter of time before Susana is pitching in high-leverage situations.

19 of 25

Travis Sykora, SP, Washington Nationals

Sykora missed all of 2026 after elbow surgery, but he should move quickly in 2027. He posted a 1.79 ERA in 12 starts across three levels in 2025 and should get a long look in Spring Training.

20 of 25

James Tibbs, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

James Tibbs, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers

Tibbs has already been traded twice since he was drafted 13th overall in 2024, but the Dodgers have been happy to land him. He hit .287-30-107 with a .941 OPS in 643 plate appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City last season, and should get a chance to win a job in Spring Training.

Ralphy Velazquez, 1B/OF, Cleveland Guardians
IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect

Chase DeLauter made a big impact as a rookie for Cleveland in 2026, and the team hopes Velazquez can do the same next season. He hit .290-29-93 between Double-A and Triple-A at age 21, and could break camp with the Guardians in 2027.

22 of 25

Sebastian Walcott, SS/3B, Texas Rangers

Walcott missed most of 2026 due to injury, but the 20-year-old still isn't far from the majors. When he did play, Walcott hit .325-10-21 with 13 stolen bases in only 187 plate appearances, mostly at Double-A. He could sit in on the left side of the infield if Corey Seager and Josh Jung continue to struggle with injuries.

23 of 25

Thomas White, SP, Miami Marlins

White missed most of 2026 due to injury, but the lefty showed big upside when healthy. He posted a 4.01 ERA in seven starts, fanning 35 batters in 24.2 innings. Control remains an issue, but White could impact the Marlins soon.

24 of 25

Gage Wood, SP, Philadelphia Phillies

The 26th overall pick in the 2025 draft out of Arkansas, Wood posted a 4.36 ERA in 25 starts between Low-A and Double-A last season. His peripherals were more impressive than the ERA, with a 4.63 K/BB ratio and more than 13 strikeouts per nine innings. He's set to help an old Phillies team with a championship window that's closing quickly.

25 of 25

Christian Zazueta, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

Christian Zazueta, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers

There might not be a pitcher in the minors with better command than Zazueta. He posted a 3.65 ERA in 23 appearances between High-A and Double-A last season, with 144/20 K/BB in 103.2 innings. The Dodgers can afford to be patient, but Zazueta's polish indicates that he will be ready for the majors early in 2027.
