Yes, it's TOO SOON with the season just a few weeks in, but …
Let’s put it this way. The winner between the Fighting Illini and Hoosiers won’t be assured of a College Football Playoff spot, but nothing less than 10-2 and knocking on the tournament door will be acceptable.
Illinois has been wonderful so far, including a dominant defensive performance against Duke. If it can win at Indiana, that leaves Ohio State as the only game it’ll likely be the underdog in. There’s no Oregon, Penn State, or Michigan to face.
If Indiana pulls this off, at Oregon and home against Penn State are the only two likely losses, but the road is a bit tougher with a trip to Iowa next. But that’s it. There’s no Ohio State or Michigan on the slate.
So, yeah, this might be the biggest football game ever between these two basketball schools, and it should be a blast.

5 Teams Making Playoff Push
@PeteFiutak
The offense has figured it out.
Having a veteran quarterback in Luke Altmyer is doing wonders for the team's efficiency, and the great start on defense means the O doesn't have to take any big chances.
The offense has yet to turn the ball over, the defense is amazing at getting into the backfield, and overall, the Illini are doing a wonderful job of generating pressure on both sides.
Combine all of that with few penalties, great special teams play, and a rock of a run defense, and it's all working. There was just enough of a push in the win over Duke to be slightly stress-tested, unlike the Hoosiers so far. But ...
To feed into the cliché, the Hoosiers have worked out the kinks.
They gave up a few big runs against Old Dominion, fixed the glitch, and Kennesaw State and Indiana State didn't go anywhere.
Illinois is obviously a step up, but its run defense hasn't been anything great. It had a hard time getting moving on the ground against Western Michigan and went nowhere fast running against Duke.
Indiana has to get to Altmyer from the start. The Illini offensive front hasn't been great in pass protection, and Indiana leads the nation in tackles for loss, averaging 11 per game.
Is Indiana ready to turn its game up several notches? Can Illinois keep its mistake-free play going?
Both quarterbacks are smart, both teams have superior head coaches, and the respective fan bases are currently through the moon fired up.
Illinois won't get the mistakes and takeaways needed, Indiana will be better on third downs, and even if it isn't getting the GameDay hype, it should be the best game of the day.
