Alabama football defeated LSU on Saturday night in Bryant-Denny Stadium to improve to 8-1 and stay undefeated in SEC play.

Here are our initial takeaways from the Crimson Tide’s win:

– Alabama’s defense showing flashes of an elite unit

Alabama football’s defense was flying all over the field making tackles against the LSU defense. The Tide continues their opportunistic attitude, and it resulted in multiple forced fumbles.

– Alabama football’s rushing attack is still struggling

Alabama football can not get its run game going with its running backs. This has been a problem for the Crimson Tide for several weeks, and it continued against LSU for most of the game. This game showed if Ty Simpson is not making plays, the Tide’s offense is in a tough spot because of its inability to run the football.

– Ty Simpson needs to clean up the fumbles

Ty Simpson has fumbled the football while getting hit in the pocket several times. This happened late against LSU, and it  opened the door for the Tigers to make this one a game late.

– Conor Talty inconsistency is continuing

Talty continues to be inconsistent when it comes to kicking the football. This has been a problem for him all season, and it was on display again against the Tigers. He nailed two impressive 40-plus yard field goals but missed a field goal from 26 yards out.
