Alabama football defeated Tennessee Saturday on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
Here are our initial takeaways from the win:
It was a coming-out party for Yhonzae Pierre against the Vols. Pierre finished the game with 2.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss.
Ryan Williams did not look hobbled in this one. He was a dependable target throughout the night for Ty Simpson as he pulled in some tough catches against the Vols. When Williams, Germie Bernard, Isaiah Horton and Williams are rolling, it is hard to find a better wide receiver room in the country.
Alabama continued to rotate its offensive line in this one after starting true freshman, Michael Carroll. The Crimson Tide managed to play a good group of offensive linemen, including Parker Brailsford, Carroll, Jaeden Roberts, Kam DewBerry, Geno VanDeMark, Kadyn Proctor and Wilkin Formby.
Daniel Hill showed he can be leaned on late in the game to pick up tough and gritty yards. These are valuable yards late in games when you are trying to take time off the clock. He was an instrumental piece in the late fourth quarter he scored on.
