Alabama football defeated Georgia on the road in Athens on Saturday.

Here are our initial takeaways from this one.

– Ty Simpson is playing at an elite level at the moment. The quarterback is playing with confidence and poise. This combined with Ryan Grubb’s creativity on offense give this offense an opportunity to be very explosive in the future.

– Alabama football showed it can commit to running the football for four quarters. The Tide had a balanced attack throughout this one.

– Alabama football’s punter Blake Doud could be a weapon in the future in terms of field possession.

– Alabama football’s offensive line can live up to the hype it had before the season. The Tide’s offensive line looked impressive protecting Simpson when he dropped back, but there was something left to be desired in the run game.

– The Tide’s defense needs to stop explosive plays. Alabama’s defense was stifling at times against the Bulldogs, but the explosive plays are what ultimately kept the Bulldogs alive.

– Penalties at key moments also aided the Bulldogs. If those are cut down, Alabama wins by wider margin.
