Following the hire of NFL legend Deion Sanders (Coach Prime) last off-season, the Colorado Buffaloes instantly became one of the most hyped-up teams in the history of college football. With all that hype came big expectations, and Colorado could not live up to those expectations. They ended up finishing the year with a disappointing 4-8 record, but can Colorado bounce back in year two of the Deion Sanders era?
Yes, Colorado will bounce back. Colorado failed for many reasons last year, like the horrible offensive line, lackluster defense, and inexperience. With that being said, why do I expect Colorado to be legit next year? Simple, Coach Prime has made impressive moves this offseason.

The first of many excellent moves made so far this offseason by Coach Prime was returning his star players from last season. Players such as QB Shedeur Sanders , WR/CB Travis Hunter , RB Dylan Edwards, and many other high-impact players will return next season. Those three were all killing it on a dysfunctional Colorado team last season. With a solid supporting cast, these three scare opposing teams.

Coach Prime dominated the transfer portal last off-season, bringing in 51 incoming transfers (57 outgoing transfers). That transfer portal class ranked first in the country. Due to the complete dumpster fire of a season this year, people were unsure if Coach Prime could pull off a big transfer class again. Coach Prime has proven he still dominates the portal. Colorado has had 22 incoming transfers (12 outgoings). This class ranks fourth in the country.

Line problems plagued this Buffaloes team last season. Coach Prime understood his weaknesses and has landed fifteen players on both sides of the line, including five OLs. Colorado ranked in the bottom five of sacks allowed last season, so landing some blockers is a step in the right direction for Boulder.
The 2024 recruiting class for Colorado is a disappointment compared to the transfer class due to only having seven commits. However, landing big names such as five-star OT Jordan Seaton. Seaton ranks as the best OT in the 2024 class and is the third-highest-ranked commit Colorado has landed. Colorado also picked up WWE legend Goldberg’s son, LB Gage Goldberg. Despite being unranked, he had offers from schools such as Alabama, Duke, and UCF.

Experience-wise, having a year playing legit schools is huge for Coach Prime and the Buffaloes. Previously, he was coaching at Jackson State. Jumping from the HBCU level to Power Five can be tricky, making it challenging to predict how coaches or players will perform. Although there were substantial problems last season, the inexperience showed at times and played a part in what caused them to blow some of the final games that they should’ve won.
Now, do I think Colorado will bounce back? Yes, but that doesn’t mean that I think they’ll be a national championship contender. What I do expect them to do is to win anywhere from 7 to 10 games next season.
